Vertus Awarded “Active Shooter Operator Training”
Contract at Fort Hood
On April 12th, 2010, Vertus (formerly Special Operations Services, Inc.) was awarded the “Active Shooter Operator Training” Contract with the Department of the Army, Army Contracting Agency at Ft. Hood, Texas. Vertus met the Army’s challenge of providing what is normally a week or two week course in two days while still providing landmark, effective training to approximately 60 CID agents based in Ft Hood, Texas, where the recent Active Shooter, Nidal Hasan, killed 13 people.
What differentiates Vertus’ training from that of others is that it is derived from the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) Counter-Terror School, IDF-Special Forces and Advanced Anti-Terrorist SWAT School. This allows their program to meet 21st century challenges using sound principles and sophisticated techniques.
The course, which took place over April 16th and 17th, 2010, included a lecture covering the history of various “Active Shooter” incidents, the required mindset, the rapid response model and modern challenges. The Practical Application part of the course covered team and individual tactical techniques, low light techniques, tactical drills, reality based simunitions and live fire. The end result was a well-trained group of agents ready for deployment.
Vertus is comprised of high-end former Law Enforcement and Special Forces Military personnel, and provides high-risk protective services and team tactical/firearms training for Law Enforcement, Military and high-risk security teams. They are dedicated to serving their brothers’ in arms and bringing to them the most cutting edge services and tactics.
Since this project’s completion, Vertus has had several requests by elite Law Enforcement and Military/Government establishments to implement their Active Shooter 2K10 course in the upcoming months.
